This is the home page of the Stanchester Quire of Montacute in Somerset. This website has recently been transferred from Weebly and is in the course of getting a makeover. If you see any item which needs attention then let Bonnie or Sally know so that they can advise me.
We meet on Tuesday evenings through most of the year for practising the repertoir of folk and west gallery music, four part a capella.
We welcome anyone who might like to join us. We allow entry without audition. Come along and see if you like us and our music !
Music which is mostly derived from the archives of many West Country sources plus the national resource in London's Cecil Sharp House.
Our musical director is Eddie Upton, famously a folk singer, choir founder and raconteur extraordinaire.
The quire was set up by Folk South West in 1995 to further its work in stimulating enjoyment, participation and creativity in the music, song and traditions of the South West of England although we do stray occasionally!
We produce CD collections on quite a regular basis in order to help raise funds for FSW causes, especially its efforts to education of the young and the young at heart!
Enjoy our website and hopefully you will come along and join us in our singing!
